Faulty CTS
January 23rd, 2006Been having problems starting it over the last month , and got worse untill the point it would not start … it would turn over and if you where lucky started when letting go of the ignition key. If you where not lucky it would flood !
Replaced the CTS (Coolent Temp Sensor for the ECU) and now starts everytime on the button ! so before you go replacing 100 quid coils etc check that out.
On a side not , the car got a little appreance in the MiniMagazine this month , and once its had a re-spray should be at a few shows this year. come over and say hi.

Allspeed’s reverse inlet manifold
December 14th, 2005Head Gasket gone
October 11th, 2005A small miss fire , and a loss of water .. then lots of white gunk under the oil filler cap … yep its a head gasket.
I am writing this while i am at work … so hopfully it will get me home .. then head off ….. will let you know how easy replacing a head gasket is over the next few days
Some small bits done
September 26th, 2005Spent sunday doing some odd jobs , fitted the heater back in the car (it was just sitting on the passenger footwell) had to create a new bracket for the heater to mount on as the old one gets chopped out when fitting the gear linkage box in the bulk head.
Blocked the hole where the old mini gearleaver came through .. do this before welding the gearlinkage bracket on it will be allot easier !
Cleaned the ICV and has seemed to improve the iderling .. also noticed the vacum pipe to the FPR had a hole ..so replaced that.
Finally made a bonnet pin to hold the bonnet down .. and replaced the bonnet … as it flipped up awhile ago ! my fault … no one elses !! lol
Still Running
September 15th, 2005Car still seems to be running fine , i have not broken down at all. Battery has gone flat once so need to check the charging system. The MPI rad seems to keep the engine cool with no problems.
Its Done
August 9th, 2005Engine is started
August 2nd, 2005ok after a weekend of evenings , finally got the engine wired up sunday night and got it fired up last night, no exhaust on yet but it runs.
still allot to do for friday , drive shafts , brake bleeding , gear linkage , radiator ….
pics soon , very busy
Engine in
July 27th, 2005Ok engine is in now :
I had to remove the front slam panel , as i could not get the engine in , Rob at Allspeed said it can be done without removing it , i think it was a case of only me doing it and not knowing what i am doing ! ![]()
Lucky for me rob supplies a new cross member / slam panel to allow room for a bigger rad (you will need a new exhaust manifold as well) so i welded that back in!
I am having problems fitting the alternator at the moment , need to speak to rob in the morning about that one,
And that is a shot of the clutch mod rob hall does to allow no pedal box mods and the use of the cable clutch on the vauxhall …. neat
